FORT VAN DER WIJCK

Van der Wijck fort is one of the relics of Dutch rule in Indonesia in the town gombong, central java.indonesia.built around the year 1818. This castle made entirely of stone bata.dan have special characteristics that differ from peningglan forts other Dutch in Indonesia.special feature is the octagonal, 10 feet tall, spacious 7168 m2. 1:40-meter thick walls, the floor 1:10 meters thick and has two floors.The first floor has four gates sixteen large room with a size of 18 x 6.5 meters, a small room with 63 windows and ukuran.72 connecting door between the room and the exit into the fort, eight steps and two emergency stairs. while the second floor has 70 connecting doors, 84 windows, and the same room number with the first floor and 4 ladder that connects to the roof of the castle, the castle roof was also made of red brick is very strong and made as small hills so that is good for the defense as well as to find out if the enemy came.
